Tomol Interpretive Playground

Tomol Interpretive Play Area is a unique play area with a native American theme. There are 4 slides, climbing areas (rocks and animals), a canoe (tomol), and huts. It is located in Carpinteria in the 300 block of Linden Ave next to Carpinteria State Beach Park.

Pros
It is a great park for imaginative play!
There is a roller side.
There are simple bathrooms in the adjacent Carpinteria State Beach Park.

Cons
For the Goletans and Santa Barbarians, it is a drive.
The Carpinteria State Beach Park gets very muddy after a rain.

Santa Barbara South County Parks & Open Spaces

"South" County (Montecito, Summerland and Carpinteria) is a hike for us but we have made a few park treks down and intend to more. There are the playground parks: Manning (Montecito), Westmont Park (Montecito), Lookout (Summerland)Toro Canyon (Carpinteria) and Tomol Interactive Park (Carpinteria). There are also open spaces:

Hale Park
Hale Park is an open unchanged area popular with dogwalkers in Montecito at the corner of Eucalyptus Hill Road and Eucalyptus Hill Drive.

Oceanview Park

Oceanview Park
Oceanview Park has open green space and trails with a few picnic tables and benches. It is located off the Padaro Lane exit on Greenwell Ave via Via Real.

Tecolote Playground

Tecolote Playground is a well maintained neighborhood playground in north (west, really) Goleta. There is a 5-12 year playground over wood chips with 4 slides, monkey bars, slide bar, bridge, steering wheels and 3 climbing areas. there are also toddler swings, regular swings and 2 riding toys. Next to the playground is an open green area, walking paths, benches and a picnic table. It is located off Calle Real (beyond Winchester Canyon and Cathedral Oaks). Map.

Pros:
There is a a lot of equipment here for a neighborhood park.
It is clean and well maintained.
There are 2 steering wheels (my 2 girls were excited they could both steer).
The playground is made of recycled materials!

Cons:
There are no bathrooms.
This is a bit out of the way for many folks.
There are no signs stating it is private, but sometimes neighborhood parks essentially are.
